     dhila, have you tried the K-lite as I mentioned above? It works for almost video. However, my PC sometimes unable to watch some *.avi with windows media player: it has sound but the picture is collapse (like the one you see when you turn on your TV when there’s no program on). I try using a video editing program called “allok video spliter” and it works. I dont’ know why. I am no computer expert so I don’t care much about this problem because it happens rarly (about 5% of all my movies)

     Firstly, Japanese AV idols, like artists in other entertainment industries, sign contracts with their managers upfront. This means that, the girl will be paid a fixed sum of money regardless of sales, unless the contract specify that she can share in royalties. Therefore, if you receive 1,000,000 yen per movie, and your videos sell like hot cakes, they won’t raise it to 3,000,000 yen because you are bound by the contract to work for them!

     Secondly, my “BS” is not some hearsay, it is based on a MSN news article I read last month. I really hope that your source of information is more reliable than that writer’s. Thirdly, most JAV idols make more than 10 movies in their “career” . If they are making, say 2,000,000 yen (about US$17,000) per movie, they would have earned US$170,000 before they quit. How come so many of them end up being strippers or even prostitutes?

     I went to Kubasaki High School in Okinawa and I had a friend there that started doing AVs. Of course she was an amature at first and she signed a contract for 5 movies and she received 5,000,000 yen (just for one summer). After her first 5, she was asked to do more for 2,000,000 yen per movie. She turned down the offer and quit her AV career. I will not mention her name but she was half American and half Japanese and her nickname between our friends was “Tokyo Rose”. Tokyo because she went to Tokyo for one summer to do her AV work and Rose because that was the name of the AV company she worked for.

     This was back in the early 90’s, with the current cost of living in Japan and inflation, AV actresses make alot more. By the way, I have a friend who is an on call “shiru danyuu”. Which are the male amatures in bukkake videos. Even these guys make 10,000-15,000 yen per load.

     Now that being said, I would love to see your MSN article that says AV actresses only make 80,000-120,000 yen per movie. Even a foreign hooker (Thai or Philipine) in Japan makes anywhere from 50,000 to 80,000 yen per customer so I really doubt that an AV actress would only make 80,000-120,000 yen per movie.

I wonder if your estimated salary (3,000,000-6,000,000 yen, i.e. US$25K-50K) is anywhere close to reality. 6,000,000 yen is the rumored salary of a top star in Japan (like Kimura Takuya or Matsushima Nanako). Maria can’t even make the top 10 AV idols in Japan. What’s more, during most of the last 15 years or so, published figures indicate that Japan has negative inflation until the recent 2 years. Price of a DVD (2,500 yen for AV) is cheaper now than a comparable VHS movie back in the early 90s.

     I have watched AV and porn for more than 10 years. This is the first time I feel sorry about an AV idol. It is disturbing to see her having one shrimp on noodles at New Year’s Eve, wearing cheap clothes but smiling, looking more like a US$1000 salary girl than someone earning $25K every month. I am very glad to hear someone saying that the money she makes can let her have a comfortable life, since she is risking her whole life to do that.

     Sky, I guess you don’t know about Japanese customs so let me explain. Noodles for New Years Eve is a custom, it’s called “toshikoshi soba”. You can have simple soba with nothing on it, or you can get the “tenpura soba” with the single shrimp (usually the most expensive). I would guess about 99% of the Japanese people eat soba for New Years Eve.

     If you can find a better translator, you can read that there is not a single negative remark in her blog. No complaints about her living or work so I really don’t know why you pitty her.

     I really don’t know what you think of Japanese girls but I think they are alot more westernized than you think. Old Japanese female customs have almost faded away, believe me, I married one. They are equally as powerful as men in business, love, and family life. They are not the females you see in the samurai movies that will never walk in front of a man or step on their shadows.

     One remark in your previous post about how AV actresses become prostitutes after their AV careers. I know many become strippers after their AV career but never heard of any prostitutes.
